Buat kali pertama dalam 53 tahun, Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) akan menghantar pasukan aerobatik udara ke Pertunjukan Udara Singapura. Lebih dikenali sebagai "Smokey Bandit", pesawat MiG-29N dari Skuadron 17 di Kuantan telah dijemput negara Singapura untuk mempamerkan manuver mereka pada pertunjukan udara yang akan diadakan di Pusat Pameran Changi pada 14 ~ 19 Febuari 2012.Smokey Bandit in Singapore Airshow 2012

Angkatan Tentera Malaysia dan Angkatan Bersenjata Singapura (RSAF) telah kerap terlibat dalam latihan dua hala dan pelbagai hala pada masa lalu tetapi ini adalah kali pertama MiG29s TUDM akan dikerahkan ke Singapura. "Smokey Bandit" akan diketuai oleh Pegawai Pemerintah Lt Kol Mior Nor Badrishah Mohamad, callsign "Ghost", Ketua Latihan Kapten Mohd Azizi Musa "Skinner", Pegawai Eksekutif Mej Razali Ahmad Jumali "Vendor", Pegawai Keselamatan Skuadron Mej Nasruddin "Digi" Khalid, Mej Azri Ahmad "Adiq", Mej Balvinder ‘JACK’ Singh Bajwa dan  Kapt Tan ‘MUMBO’ Wei Han RMAF

Namun apa yang paling menarik kali ini ialah, sebuah pesawat "Smokey Bandit" telah diberi nafas baru dengan warna dan logo yang lebih menarik dibahagian ekor pesawat. Terbaik dari MIG-29N MKM.

Lt Col Mior Nor Badrishah ‘GHOST’ Mohamad RMAF
Commanding Officer – Smokey 1 (Leader)
Lt Col Mior Nor Badrishah ,41, is in his second tour in MiG-29N aerobatic team previously positioned at the right wing in 1997, 1998 and 1999; 2000 and 2001 (as Solo) team formerly known as Taufan Ganas and now returning to lead Smokey Bandits 2011/2012.  He currently flies the Blue Tail Jet as Smokey 1.

Capt Mohd Azizi ‘SKINNER’ Musa RMAF
Head of Training – Smokey 2 (Right Wing)
Capt Azizi, 34, is in his second season in MiG-29N aerobatic team and flies as No 2 on the right wing in the formation as Smokey 2 for the 2011/2012 team.  Capt Azizi joined the Air Force in June 1999, graduating from Air Force College in Alor Setar.  His excellent flying abilities has been proven since his flying school days when he emerged as Best Overall in his class and won Best Academic Trophy as well.

Maj Razali ‘VENDOR’ Ahmad Jumali RMAF
Executive Officer – Smokey 3 (Left Wing)
Maj Razali , 35, is in his second season in MiG-29N aerobatic team flying as Smokey 3 (Deputy Lead) on the left wing in the formation for the 2011/2012 team. Maj Razali entered the Air Force in June 1995, graduating from RMAF Cadet School in Kuala Lumpur.  During his basic flying school days, he showed great potential when he graduated top of his class and was awarded the ‘Best Overall Trophy’.

Maj Nasruddin ‘DIGI’ Khalid RMAF
Squadron Safety Officer – Smokey 4 (Slot)
Maj Nasruddin, 32, is in his second season in MiG-29N aerobatic team flying in the No 4 position as slot pilot (Smokey 4)  in the formation as for the 2011/2012 team. Maj Nasruddin joined the Air Force in June 1998, graduating from Air Force College in Alor Setar with Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautics).  He has shown maturity in flying since the very beginning of his flying days when he outshined most of his colleague and finished top of his flying class before being selected for fighter conversion.

Maj Azri ‘ADIQ’ Hj Ahmad RMAF
Standards Officer – Smokey 5 (Solo)
Maj Azri , 34, is in his fourth season in MiG-29N aerobatic team fying in the No 5 position (Solo) in the formation as Smokey 5 for the 2011/2012 team.  He was previously positioned on the left wing during Petronas F1 Sepang Air Show in 2010 and was already performing as a solo during Langkawi International Maritime and Air Show (LIMA) 2009 and LIMA 2011.

Maj Balvinder ‘JACK’ Singh Bajwa  RMAF
Senior Engineering Officer/Commentator
Maj Balvinder Singh, 35, in his fifth season with the MiG-29N aerobatic team is the team’s Senior Engineer. He oversees nearly 170 maintainers and responsible for keeping the squadron’s fleet of MiG-29Ns combat and mission ready. Maj Balvinder joined the Air Force in June 1995 graduating from Malaysian Armed Forces Academy as the first batch of officers in 1999 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Capt Tan ‘MUMBO’ Wei Han RMAF
Ground Safety/Engineering Officer
Capt Tan, 26, is in his second year with the team after joining in 2010. He has a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering (First Class Honours). He assists the SENGO in managing the Smokey Bandits’ Technical Crew and ensuring ground safety aspects of aircraft operations at display sites.
